Porlock is a lively village, which lies within Exmoor National Park between the rolling hills and the sea. Ideally located for exploring Exmoor on foot, by car, bike or on horseback.
The village has an abundance of shops offering fresh local produce. One can find the butcher, grocer, post office, supermarket, outfitters, garage, art galleries, rare books and many more. There are plenty of inns, tearooms and restaurants too, for those who wish to sample the local cuisine (such as Exmoor pheasant).
Being so close to the Devon border and Doone Valley there is plenty
to explore or closer to home one can visit the charming village of
Dunster with its Historic Castle and Medieval Yarn Market, the picturesque
villages of Selworthy and Bossington with their beautiful thatched
cottages, or one may wish to walk along the South West Coast path.
Why not visit the Horner tearooms to finish off a day’s hike?
Porlock Weir is only one and a half miles to the west of Porlock. With its pretty harbour and pebble beach it is a nice place to relax and enjoy a meal and a drink.

| All around you are spectacular, breathtaking views in a region,
which many have yet to explore. Running deer and wild Exmoor ponies,
swooping kestrel and pheasants a plenty. To stand up on Dunkery Beacon
and look out across the moor is a spectacle I thought I would never
see. Wind your way through the bracken and you can see to every corner,
down towards Minehead, up towards Selworthy, out to sea and beyond
to Wales......
There are so many attractions and whether one likes horse riding, rambling, cycling, strolling along the beach, swimming, fishing or just whiling away the hours enjoying a cream tea this is surely the place to be.
Taunton and Barnstaple are only 45 minutes away and Exeter approximately an hour and a quarter. Taunton is the nearest main line train station and access to the M5 motorway. There are regular buses from Porlock to Minehead, Lynton, Lynmouth, Taunton and Barnstaple. Minehead, being the nearest town with services, is only a 10 minute drive.

Accommodation:
Mistletoe cottage sleeps up to 4 people with two beautifully furnished double bedrooms, both with double beds. The main bedroom at the front has an ensuite toilet and wash basin. The room has wonderful views of the moor and the hills. The second bedroom at the rear is light and pretty and also has a wash basin.
The living room has a fireplace with a wood burner for those cold winter nights, TV, video and stereo. The kitchen is fully equipped with all the mod cons including dishwasher, washing machine, fridge, freezer, microwave, electric cooker and last but not least the oil fired Rayburn which provides the central heating and plenty of hot water. The refurbished bathroom, which has been tastefully fitted and tiled, has both a bath and a separate shower cubicle.
The cottage has fitted carpets throughout the upstairs and the living room; the kitchen/diner has rustic terracotta tiles and beams to create that traditional feeling.
